Ashley Layne

Ashley Layne is the YAC Outreach Coordinator for the SILC. Ashley’s primary disability is cerebral palsy; however, in recent years, she has learned to embrace the joys of neurodivergence, with ADHD, anxiety, and dyscalculia added to the list.

Ashley is originally from Ashland, KY. Growing up in Eastern Kentucky has afforded her several opportunities to advocate for rural populations. As a power wheelchair user, Ashley is keenly aware of both structural and societal barriers that exist day to day. She is also well-versed in Kentucky Medicaid waiver policies and procedures. The Michelle P. Waiver enabled her to attend Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology as well as a minor in Women and Gender Studies (May 2018). Ashley is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and holds a Master of Arts in Counselor Education from the University of Kentucky (December 2023).

When not working, Ashley enjoys reading, volunteering in various capacities, and attending concerts.
