My name is Claire Hancock, and I am excited to be a new member of the SILC! I am a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky, where I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees. Throughout my education, I found ways to integrate a disability focus into my work — including completing my master’s-level practicum with the SILC and my undergraduate practicums at nonprofit disability organizations in central Kentucky. After graduation, I began my full-time role as an IDD Case Manager with New Vista, where I coordinate services for Medicaid waiver participants. My passion for disability advocacy began at an early age, inspired by my oldest brother, Jonathon, who has intellectual and developmental disabilities. I am looking forward to serving as a SILC board member and continuing to develop my skills as a professional in this field.
